The Republic of Plato: Book One: Views On Justice

 Well written book

My review

"The Republic of Plato: Book One: Views On Justice" by G. McLaughlin
is an enlightening and thought-provoking read. It successfully bridges
the gap between ancient philosophical discourse and contemporary
relevance, making it a valuable resource for anyone interested in the
timeless question of what constitutes justice.

I would recommend this book to anyone who really is interested in
philosophy.

Without a doubt I give a 4 star rating (more due to my own lack of
interest in philosophy).

social justice, or the human condition. It is a well-written and thought-provoking

Benghazi

 "Fantastic historical novel"

My review

Benghazi written by Salah El Moncef is a fantastic historical novel and
wonderful to read.

The book is beautifully written and evocatively captures the sights, sounds,
and smells of Benghazi during this time. El Moncef does an excellent job
of bringing the characters to life, and the main character Mariam Khaldoon
is a particularly memorable and sympathetic protagonist.

A few thoughts on this book:

* The characters are well-developed and believable

long after you finish reading it.

Therefore, I recommend the book highly for everyone who is interested in

WOAD

 A beautiful novel

My review

What a beautiful novel! I really enjoyed reading WOAD because it was more
a fairy tale than a fantasy novel. I also liked the detailed way of the story.

Two: One Destined to Addiction the Other to be Free

 A good read

My review

Due to the interesting topic, addiction, I wanted to read this book very detailed.
Meanwhile I had lots of emotions: sadness and joy because of the two different
stories. I missed a bit of the depth of the book, on the other hand I liked
the simplicity.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in the topic.

It was a bit difficult to rate this book well, so in doubt between 4 and 5 stars,
I chose the highest rating, which is 5 stars.

Finding purpose and meaning

Finding Purpose and Meaning:
Sally Survives Her Brief, Nasty Dance with Psychiatry

Interesting but difficult book

My review

To be honest, I haven't read the other part of the series, so it was
difficult to come into the book.

I read it twice because it was very interesting, and I wanted to
understand the context.

I think this book could be compelling for everyone who likes to
know more about psychiatry.

It's a bit difficult to give "Finding Purpose and Meaning:
Sally Survives Her Brief, Nasty Dance with Psychiatry" a proper
rating. However due to the interesting story, I give a 4 star rating.

Bookreview: Masked Intent: A Modern-Day Morality Play

Wonderful read

Summary

Set in the not-so-distant future, Masked Intent follows the new, shaky romance
between a divorced mom with three sons and a younger college professor. When
ghosts from their pasts reappear, they come face-to-face with the emotional
wreckage that was locked down and lay dormant inside them both for years.
As it turns out, the ghosts aren't the biggest threats to their budding love. It's
the lies they've lived and accepted for themselves as truth that have
the potential to break them apart.

Told through a series of seemingly disconnected vignettes narrated by Truth
personified, Masked Intent examines our relationship with the truth and each
other in a world where honesty and authenticity take back seat to the
power of influence.

My review

A different story which took my attention immediately and it really was a
wonderful read.

The characters were all developed well, however I'm not sure in what
kind of category this book fell.

I would recommend this book to all who like to read well developed,
fiction plays with interesting characters.

I give a 5 star rating for this wonderful read.

The author

From narrating school plays to writing melodramatic short stories,
Kim Greer has always enjoyed telling stories that entertain and enlighten.
As a fiction writer, she imagines thoughtful but flawed characters who engage
and enrage readers in her stories that celebrate love, mourn societal discord,

Kim’s passion for connecting audiences with a good read has bled into all facets
of her life. A journalist by training, she earned her BA in English Language and
Literature from the University of Virginia and an MS in Journalism from
Columbia University.

For nearly three decades, she’s helped corporations, nonprofits, and others tell
their stories and build their brands. Kim lives in northern Virginia with her

father, and their Rottweiler, Oba.

Living in Joyful Resilience: A Roadmap for Navigating Life’s Ups and Downs

 Well worth reading

Summary

The book is a Call-to-Action blueprint for creating recurring joy and stronger
resilience in your life. It provides thought-provoking research into the difference
between being merely resilient and being joyfully resilient. Drawing from psychology,
education and neuroscience, the book explains how joyfulness contributes to the
responses that enable us to bounce back from adversity, thriving not just surviving.
Included are resilience stories from the author and ten contributors that will resonate
with your own life and inspire you.

My review

I really enjoyed this book. You feel the passion of the author in the way she tells.
It also was well worth reading from the beginning till the end.

It's good to see things written down from another point of view than yours. So I
absolutely want to recommend this book to anyone who is interested in the
psychology of habits (and changing habits).

Of course I give with lots of pleasures a 5 star rating, and I hope the author will
write some more books about this topic because she's really passionate about it.

Bookreview: Tionsphere

Intriguing!

Summary

For a million years, the human population was less than 26,000 people.
By the year 2060, ten billion individuals crowded the planet.

As humanity faced its greatest challenge, two global corporations merge to
deliver a radical solution: the construction of concentric spheres encircling the
world. For almost a thousand years, the new world was astonishingly empty,
but as the tionsphere approaches capacity, its universal processing service starts
to fail, threatening the lives of the obsessively-connected people.

Caitlyn and her small team of contract theorists accept the impossible task of
understanding why. They discover individuals who seemingly pre-date the
tionsphere, including one who plans to destroy everything within Tion’s spheres.
Pazel is intent on killing thousands of billions of people to preserve an elite
population tailored to his own desires.

Set on an immense scale, Tionsphere follows ordinary workers surviving in a
world overflowing with people distracted by their technology and threatened
by a life without it.

My Review

This heavy book takes the reader into the future and especially the overpopulation.
The author introduces you to several main characters. The story really intrigued me
and I couldn't decide whether it was a thriller or a science fictions story.

Overall I enjoyed this book very much and I would recommend it to readers who
are interested in the future.

I give this with lots of pleasure a 5 star rating!

Bookreview: Ela Green and the Kingdom of Abud.

 A good adventure story

Summary

Ela Green and the Kingdom of Abud is book one of a trilogy and introduces
Ela Green, a fourteen-year-old girl. Her first adventure reveals the mysterious
bond she shares with Mother Nature and her encounter with Yggdrasil,
the wise-tree, charting her own self-discovery along the way.

With the help of her best friend, Jo, and her loving Uncle Archibald, who
unwillingly has to lay bare an unbelievable secret, Ela summons all her courage
to face the many dangers along the road.

The adventure starts in the present day at Waldegg Boarding School on the
shores of Lake Geneva in Switzerland. As Mrs. Green drives her daughter back
after the summer holidays, Ela has no idea that the discovery of an ancient bracelet
and a scroll she found in an antique desk will change her life forever.

The formidable school is the connecting link in an adventure that will time-travel
the reader through continents and centuries in search of the mysterious kingdom
and the magical Book of Name, the most powerful manuscript ever written...

And for a prophecy that must be fulfilled...

My Review

My expectations of this book started very high due to the amazing, beautiful book
cover and the story as well. However, it was written a bit too chaotic.

The main character took the readers with her on her trip to the Kingdom of
Abud. The trip is full of adventures. The writing style is chaotic, but well detailed
and clear.

I'm very happy, I started reading the first book of the trilogy for once and I hope
there will follow more books of this author.

I would recommend Ela Green and the Kingdom of Abud to all who like to read
fantasy & adventures stories.

I want to give a 4 star rating for this wonderful, chaotic story.

The author

Sylvia Greif is a Swiss writer and animal advocate. In 2014 she released a children's
book, Lester's Planet. Ela Green and The Kingdom of Abud is her first novel in a trilogy.

A real nature lover, she is at her happiest in the great outdoors, playing sports.
Sylvia enjoys skiing, swimming, horseback riding, athletics and hiking.
She recently walked part of the Way of St James to Santiago de Compostela.

Always up for a physical or a creative challenge, she hopes to climb
Mount Kilimanjaro in the near future.

Her passion for the environment and wildlife started when she was a child.
She grew up surrounded by pets and since a young age, animals have shaped
her more than people. As an animal advocate she works alongside non-profit
organisations to protect animal rights and fight animal cruelty.
Sylvia has three dogs, Bv, Shea and Lola.

Her other passion alongside writing is music and travelling. She has globe-trotted
around the world and is fluent in five languages.

For Sylvia, moments of inspiration are often found in unexpected places.
Her best writing happens on board a train but also from her home. Sylvia is
an early morning writer. She likes to take advantage of the first hours of the
day when she feels the most creative, surrounded by her three dogs.
She finds it to be a fruitful work environment when, as if by magic, a crazy
idea turns into the right turn of phrase. It allows her to get an amount of
uninterrupted writing done, a beautiful antidote to life's stresses.

I received a free copy via Booktasters in return for my honest review. Although I
gave a 4 star rating, I'm curious enough to follow Ela's adventures and character.
Thank you very much for this wonderful reading chance!
