My Queen, My love: A Novel of Henrietta Maria

Captivating novel

Due to my interest for royal history, I was very keen to read "My Queen,
My Love: A Novel of Henrietta Maria" written by Elena Maria Vidal.

The book didn't let me down, it captivated me from the beginning
to the end, although I knew how the story continued...

The author wrote this book very well and she painted a perfect picture
from the 17th. century. It was very nice to read.

Benghazi

 "Fantastic historical novel"

My review

Benghazi written by Salah El Moncef is a fantastic historical novel and
wonderful to read.

The book is beautifully written and evocatively captures the sights, sounds,
and smells of Benghazi during this time. El Moncef does an excellent job
of bringing the characters to life, and the main character Mariam Khaldoon
is a particularly memorable and sympathetic protagonist.

A few thoughts on this book:

* The characters are well-developed and believable
* The book offers a unique perspective
* Benghazi is a powerful and moving novel that will stay with you
long after you finish reading it.

Therefore, I recommend the book highly for everyone who is interested in
history and who wants to read a fantastic novel!

In The Image of Man

A very nice but quirky novel

Summary

Would you know if a small god paid you a visit?

Would you trust in the least of miracles or believe in the messages
that appear out of the blue on your computer screen?
What would it take to make you believe?

My Review

This book is ideal to read during winter months, while it's raining,
cold and grey.

In The Image of Man has a very nice story, a fantastic plot and not much
but great characters.

The author, Mark Long had my attention from the beginning till the end,
because I wanted to know what would happen to the main character. I
hope there will be a sequel soon!

I recommend In  The Image of Man to all who like to read quirky but
interesting novels, which keep you busy from the beginning till the end.

I give with lots of pleasure a 5 star rating!

The author

Mark Long is an English author living in the south of England. He is a long
time fan of SF and fantasy and loves reading as much as writing.

While relatively new to full length novels, Mark has long experience
writing poetry (but now feels much better) and short stories, some
of which were included in anthologies.

When not writing, Mark has a day job, teaches adults to play the Ukulele,
does sound engineering, videography and editing, and he is learning to
play the saxophone despite the requests of those with ears. He also looks
after four indolent and self-important dogs. He has heard that sleep is
pleasant and will try it if the coffee ever runs out.

Beneath a Copper Sky

 Fantastic novel

My Review

I read most of Valerie Poore's memoirs and I wouldn't like to
miss this novel based on the author's life in South Africa.
I must say, "Beneath a Copper Sky" didn't let me down.

It was a very lively novel, which took the reader on a journey to
South Africa. Through the characters, but also through the storyline,
I had the feeling of being there. Val Poore appealed to all my emotions
as well as my senses.

I highly recommend this book to all people who love reading memoirs/
novels and I give without any doubt a five star rating for
Beneath a Copper Sky.

I really hope that Val Poore continues writing such lovely stories!

A heavy read

his confused memories to resolve how he got here.

My Review

I enjoyed reading this book, although it didn't draw my attention
immediately, due to the flashbacks.

However, the Offering had lots of plots, a very interesting main
character and an open ending.

I liked the writing style and the story, although it was a very heavy
read.

I would recommend the Offering to all who like to read, fiction and
thrillers told in a novel.

I give a 5 star rating, because the end made me very curious.

My Review

What a fantastic book! I really enjoyed the books of Malcolm Havard due to

Bookreview: Waxing Pathetic My Two Cents, For What They're Worth

 What a special book

Summary

"Waxing Pathetic" is a sardonic, often hilarious, raging stream of consciousness
from one mad American woman. From the pathetic to the political, the lunatic
to the poetic, Clark's memoir is a masterwork of dry wit and piercing observation.

From "Been Down This Road" where she relates her high school dating history, to
"This is Real...and Surreal" where she takes down some pathetic politics,
Clark merges real events with dream-state fiction that evokes deeper truths
hidden in memories.

Organized into five themes connected by the pathetic principle, she takes on the
personal, the economic, and the political, and finally asks noisy America to
begin to untangle.

"Waxing Pathetic" will leave you breathless as you are taken down
roads not taken by most American women.

My Review

First of all: What a special book! I never read such one as this. The author
takes the readers to a mix of thoughts and ideas. Besides that he tells an
amazing beautiful story.

I liked the writing style very much but I got a bit confused. Yet this book
made me think.

I would recommend this book to all people who like to read quirky novels.
I give a 5 star rating for "Waxing Pathetic".

The author

Ms. Merry Clark is an author, comedian, and photographer. She earned a
Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from the University of Michigan in 1989
and went on to independently produce and direct her own theater productions

Bookreview: At the Far End of Nowhere

What a beautifully, refreshing story told very well!

Summary

In this hauntingly unconventional novel, young Lissa Power challenges the
imagination and captures the heart as she struggles to grow under the guidance
of her father, a watchmaker, inventor and mechanical wizard - who is easily old
enough to be her grandfather.

When Lissa is twelve, her mother dies from breast cancer and the reclusive old
watchmaker now ,  84 years old, must oversee his daughter's coming of age.

Lissa becomes her father's close companion, the mother of the house, and
her aging father's caregiver.

Here At the Far End of Nowhere, father and daughter weave fact with fiction
and merge reality with fantasy to reveal a broader truth.

My Review

What a beautifully, refreshing story told very well! I really enjoyed it!

I also liked the way the author developped her characters and as a woman, of course I supported
Lissa the most.

I can't find anything I disliked in this novel perhaps highlighting her father's age, but that's a part of the story.

I recommend this book to all people who love reading some wonderful coming to age
novels. Perhaps teenagers or young adults are a wonderful public for this book.

I enjoyed this book from start to finish, that's why I want to give a
5* rating for this easy reading and a really nice novel.

Bookreview: Manopoly!?

 Manopoly!?

written by James Philip "Phil" Jones

Summary

moves up into the Federal Reserve. Jackson and Brooke work to develop

opening to move the MANOPOLY Project into the mainstream federal government.

Bad actors within the university are nefariously connected with the Iranian
government. They plant a bug in the project. Once discovered, an
international trail of espionage ensues. As the story unfolds,
it is discovered that the events in the Middle East have become
very intertwined with the project. This event pits the NSA and the
CIA against the IRGC and the Quds Force fighting to control the
information. The top actors in this drama are President Trump and
The Supreme Leader of Iran who are directly involved. The actions
escalate until international assassination is sanctioned. The assassination

business espionage, political suspense, and technological innovation

Bookreview: Pit of Vipers

 Amazing series!

Summary

In Pit of Vipers, the second book in the Sons of Kings trilogy, the lives of
Alfred of Wessex and Eadwulf of Mercia continue to unfold against the ever
increasing threat of Danish raids.

Now back in his homeland, Eadwulf sets out on his determined quest for revenge,
whilst Alfred’s leadership skills develop at the courts of his successive brothers.
Before long, those skills will be put to the test . . .

The Danish invasion of the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms in 865 is merciless and relentless.
Every year more Norse ships come to join their comrades in a quest to plunder for
wealth and gain domination over the people.

The Wessex king is now Aethelred, Alfred’s last surviving brother, and Alfred becomes
his trusted second-in-command. Whilst the Danes take kingdom after kingdom,
the brothers wait with baited breath for them to set their sights on Wessex.

By 869 their worst fear is realised.

In the meantime, Eadwulf pursues the objects of his revenge.

My Review

First of all, I really liked the more mysterious book cover.

Secondly the books of Millie Thom always start with a clear description of
the characters and a map of the Anglo Saxon Kingdom, which always are
very easy to follow.

"The Pit of Vipers" is very nicely written and with a good mix of dialogues
and storytelling.  It made one thing very clear: Millie Thom knows a lot
of this period! I think it wasn't an easy time to live in.

"The Pit of Vipers" really is a page turner. I wanted to know the end of this
story šŸ‘€.

Last but no least, I will recommend this fantastic book and series for all
readers who like (royal) historical fiction! With pleasure, I give
Pit of Vipers a 5 star rating on 5.

The Author

Millie Thom is a former geography and history teacher with a degree in
geology and a particular passion for the Anglo Saxon and Viking era.
She was born in Southport, Lancashire, in 1947, and happily admits
to being a 'boomer'.

After completing a teacher training course in Liverpool in 1968, she moved
to Yorkshire to take up her first teaching post. This was at a secondary
school in a small mining village, where most of the children -
and more than a few of the staff - spoke in a dialect riddled with 'thees',
'thous', 'hast thas' and wilt thas'. She also met her husband to be at this time,
a teacher at a rival school - the rivalry always being in the not-so-gentle sport of
rugby!

In 1970 Millie and her husband moved down to Wantage for six years.
Wantage is known a King Alfred's town, since it is the place where he was born.
In 1976 she moved up to Nottinghamshire, and still lives there with her husband,
midway between Lincoln and Newark. Their six grown up children all live close by.

Since retiring from teaching, Millie has been writing the trilogy about King Alfred
that has been screaming to be born for so many years. Book 1, 'Shadow of the Raven'
is already published on Amazon, and Book 2, 'Pit of Vipers' is presently nearing
completion.

I think Millie Thom was a fantastic teacher. I would like to have had (royal)
history lessons from her! Luckily I can read these amazing series!
