Bookreview: Where the light begins

Where the light begins

A Seeker's Journey for Truth, Freedom and a Place to Call Home
Written by Cristy Elmendorp

The Review

Memoirs, who doesn't love them?! I certainly do, especially in times of Covid-19 and
staycation. They give us new dreams.

"Where the light begins" was certainly a very personal journey of the author to South-
East Asia. Although I've never been to those regions, it's now certainly on my wish list!

The book is written in short, clear chapters, which I like. It spoke about many
interesting topics such as: relationship, love, loss, food, education, and much more.
I really want to know the end of the book!!

For all what I've written before about "Where the light begins", I  would
recommend the book to friends.

The author

Although I never read any other book of Christy Elmendorp - I think there are no other
books - I really want to read more work from her. She also has a beautiful website, check

Tides of Desire by Tracy Summer

A forbidden love that started with a Christmas kiss.

*Friends to lovers
*Forbidden love
*STEAMY holiday romance
*Beach read (Outer Banks, NC 1898)

A female doctor and a shipbuilder find friends-to-lovers, small-town love in the final standalone steamy novella in the Garrett Brothers trilogy!

Spirited physician Macy Dallas is fervently committed to medicine, but a troubled past has kept her from committing to love. She’s never experienced ardent yearning for a man until she kisses Caleb Garrett…and her awakening passion is impossible to resist.

A gifted boatbuilder who is dedicated only to the sea, Caleb doesn’t believe in the power of love. A wretched childhood has governed his life until he doesn’t believe he has anything to offer. A beguiling puzzle, Macy challenges his fears, and he considers giving in to their explosive passion. Even though he knows he’s not the man she deserves.

As they match wits in a tempestuous dance, their fortifications begin to crumble, revealing not only a fiery attraction but a deepening love. Soon, what should have been a simple seduction becomes deliciously complicated…as they must open their hearts or lose the one person they are desperate to possess.

Like steamy historical romance? Friends to lovers? Small-town settings? Doctor heroines? Shipbuilding, alpha heroes? Tides of Desire is the novel for you!

Review

I must admit I really enjoy reading great love stories, and this was certainly an excellent one!

Although Tides of Desire by Tracy Summer is shorter than the other books of the series it has
the same ingredients: a wonderful location, setting, time and above all: excellent and strong characters.

After all 'Tides of Desire' written by Tracy Summer is a splendid love story to read during the Christmas Holidays.

The Author

Award-winning author Tracy Sumner’s storytelling career began when she picked up a historical romance on a college beach trip, and she fondly blames LaVyrle Spencer for her obsession with the genre. She lived in New York, Paris and Taipei before finding her way back to the Lowcountry of South Carolina.

When not writing sizzling love stories about feisty heroines and their temperamental-but-entirely-lovable heroes, Tracy enjoys reading, snowboarding, college football (Go Tigers!), yoga, and travel. She loves to hear from romance readers!

Bookreview: From a Wonky Path to an Open Road

From a wonky Path to an Open Road ,

written by Janey de Nordwall

In 2019, BAFTA-winning film producer, Janey de Nordwall packed her bags (and her cat Kenny), fired up her 1970s VW campervan and headed off from her London home to Scotland for a journey that would change her life. In this heart-warming, fresh and joyful book, Janey captures the lucid beauty of her surroundings, remembers the pivotal moments of her eventful life and reveals her most intimate thoughts.

First of all, I want to admit that I really love travel memoirs. My favourite countries are Spain and Portugal, but I can enjoy memoirs from other countries too.

Janey de Nordwall immediately took me away in her book "From a wonky Path to an Open Road" on her journey to the amazing Scotland.

"From a Wonky Path to an Open Road" is written very fluently with short and clear chapters, which I really like. I wanted to know the complete story so I finished the book quickly. No I'm going to re-read it slowly.

It was besides the travel a very inspirational book  I enjoyed "From a Wonky Path to an Open Road" a lot. So it's really a must-read!

Tides of Love by Tracy Sumner

A true love story

Tides of Love

(Seaswept Seduction Series #1)

by
Tracy Sumner (Goodreads Author)
 3.64  ·   Rating details ·  421 ratings  ·  64 reviews
A provocative novel that will leave you breathless as it explores the heartaches and triumphs of love. Can a woman's love really stand the test of time?

He left all he loved behind...

Will he be able to return and win her heart?

An earth-shattering secret revealed in his recently deceased mother's diary causes harsh words between Noah Garrett and his brother. Desolate and totally bewildered, Noah leaves Pilot Isle and has no contact with his family or even Elle Beaumont, the girl who has been his shadow all through childhood.

Now, ten years later, Noah is a renowned biologist and returns to Pilot Isle to head up a research lab. Coming back home opens up old wounds and uncovers buried feelings. Hoping to have a few days to cope with all the old emotions welling up within him, Noah really isn't ready to face anyone yet. However, it's just his luck that the first person he literally bumps into is Elle. The only difference is, Elle is no longer a thin red-headed mischievous imp who is constantly in trouble and always needing to be rescued. This Elle is a gorgeous, passionate young woman who sets Noah's blood on fire.

Marielle Claire Beaumont has loved Noah since she was a child. As a sad little girl who'd recently lost her mother and couldn't speak English, Elle met Noah when he saved her from taunts at school. Ever since then Elle has loved Noah unconditionally and followed him around like a little puppy. Her world was shattered when he left so suddenly. His silence all these years has been very difficult, and Elle is stunned when she slams into him so unexpectedly. It's not long before she's disrupting Noah's life again as sparks of passion fly in every direction between the two.

The Secret of Rosalita Flats by Tim W. Jackson

Cal’s a hapless watchmaker. Marina’s a beautiful scuba instructor. They were friends as kids. Now, not so much. Together they’ll solve the secret of Rosalita Flats. If the sharks don’t get them first.

The Secret of Rosalita Flats is about a man trying to unload the football-shaped house he inherited, while dodging the backwater Blacktip Island’s quirky collection of con artists, smugglers and other ne’er-do-wells: an ornery housekeeper who refuses to be fired, a rum-soaked attorney with his own agenda, a chair-wielding resort manager who thinks he’s an avenging angel, and a self-styled psychic who may be able to see the future. There’s also a mysterious someone—or something—trying to scare Cal off the island. Cal has to figure out what his old man was mixed up in, fast, if he’s to sell the house and get off the crazy little rock alive.

Written with Hiaasen-esque humor, The Secret of Rosalita Flats is a beguiling mystery for anyone who’s ever dreamed of chucking it all and running off to the Caribbean. From the author of the award-finalist Blacktip Island.

Poems from San Fransisco

 What a cool book!!!

Poems from San Fransisco

by
Cole Feldman (Goodreads Author)
 3.86  ·   Rating details ·  14 ratings  ·  10 reviews
In Feldman’s second book of poetry, moments of ordinary city life in San Francisco are illuminated with a spirit of finding joy and gratitude in even the small things. Each poem transports the reader to a mundane moment made brilliant—reading at the coffee shop, listening to cars at night, sitting on the rocks by the ocean, and meeting (and falling in love with) all kinds of new and interesting people in the city. Poems from San Francisco is a poetry collection for bringing new light to life and changing the way you look at things. It is best served with coffee or tea.

Normally I don't read poems often, but this book I really liked. It contains lots of subjects and interesting thoughts and of course poems.

Personally, I really like the stylish book cover in black and white. The spelling San Fransisco is a bit confusing, but the book read very easily.

The author

I'm looking forward to read other books from Cole Feldman!
