I enjoyed the book the product launch written by Dominic Frúges,
because it offered a wide range of topics and tips about how to
launch a product. I also found the to do lists and the check lists
in the book very handy.

Bits, Bytes and Barrels

 What an interesting book!

My review

The book Bits, Bytes and Barrels draws my attention immediately,
although it sometimes is a dry business subject.

The author did his job very well, by explaining the subject in a
clear way. It also was handy to have a summary at the end of each
chapter.

All those things made the book a must-read for
everyone involved in the Oil & Gas industry and the digitalisation
as well!

I give with lots of pleasure a five star rating for this very interesting
book and I hope to read more books from this author.

The purpose of capital

Elements of Impact, Financial Flows,
and Natural Being

Interesting book with new views

My review

As I studied Accountancy and Fiscal law, I was keen to read this book.
The first thing I noticed was the beautiful lay out of the book and the
clear division in chapters.

It was interesting to read and the Purpose of Capital offered new view
to think about. Anyway I enjoyed reading this book.

I would recommend this book to all who like to read about economical
growth and social investing.

For asking the question why and the interesting views, I would like to
give this book a 5 star rating.

The author

Jed Emerson is strategic advisor to family offices and wealth management
firms executing diverse approaches to investing for financial returns with
social and environmental impact.

Co-author of the first book on impact investing, as well as six other books
on impact investing and social entrepreneurship, he has been active in both
fields for nearly thirty years. He has served as founding director and board
member of diverse social enterprises and impact investment groups.

Emerson is a Senior Research Fellow at University of Heidelberg's Center
on Social Investing and has held faculty appointments at Harvard, Stanford
and Oxford business schools. He has taught social entrepreneurship at
Kellogg Business School and NYU-Abu Dhabi in the U.A.E. In the late 90s,
Emerson coined the concept of Blended Value to describe the reality that the
value we create in our lives and through our investing is a blend of social,
environmental and economic elements. While the value we create is whole,
we are asked to choose between doing well or doing good, making money or
engaging in philanthropy and working in nonprofit or for-profit organizations.

This dualism prevents us from capturing the full value and returns of not
only our investments, but our lives and personal purpose. The Purpose of Capital:
Elements of Impact, Financial Flows, and Natural Being explores how we
may bridge the divide between how we think about doing well and doing good
in order to optimize the overall impact of our lives and wealth. In recent
years, Emerson's work has expanded to include consideration of not simply
how to invest for more than money, but also how we might think about the
deeper purpose of our wealth and lives-the Why. His latest offering, the
eighth book he has produced, is The Purpose of Capital: Elements of Impact,
Financial Flows and Personal Being and explores the broad and historic links
and connections between how we think about money and investing and how
we understand the total, integrated value of our lives and World. Before
becoming an internationally recognized leader in impact investing and
social entrepreneurship, Emerson spent the first part of his career in social
work, focusing on youth and community development. He was founding
director of Larkin Street Services, a San Francisco-based nonprofit serving
homeless and runaway youth.

Bookreview: All in the same boat

Very interesting book!

Summary

On a submarine crew, officers and sailors work together in cramped spaces
and challenging conditions to accomplish complex missions with no room for
failure.

As Rennie moved into leadership positions in the business world, he found that
the basic underlying principles for success at sea also led to high-performing
teams on land.

Leaders succeed when they create a unified team with a singular mission -
when all employees perform like they are all in the same boat.

My Review

I enjoyed this book very much as well as the applicable book cover.

The author tells fantastic about his own experiences in the navy, which
he compares to situations in a business.

I read many books about leadership and about Industrial and Organizational
psychology but this one is special due to the personal stories of the author.
He also makes great links and argumentations with for example facts and
figures. This book helps business leaders with clear hints.

I would recommend "All in the same boat" to all the business leaders who
want inspiration for the problems in their firm.

I give without any doubt a 5 star rating to this very interesting book!

information to find individual success, this book does not adopt a "one size

My Review

As I'm very interested in the psychological aspect of human beings, I really
wanted to read "Individual Advantages, Find the I in Team".

This book didn't let me down. It fulfilled all my expectations. It is based on
the experiences of the authors and I enjoyed the storytelling. It was clear,
structured with great messages and examples.

Sometimes the personal stories made me laugh, others were more serious.
Anyway, this book is a must read for people who are open for change,
interested in business or in psychology. Therefore I want to give this book
a 5 star rating.

Bookreview: Brandlife

 Bookreview:

Brandlife

written by Andrej Drapal

"Very useful information"

Summary

Do you sometimes feel like your brand runs you and not the opposite? Are you
feeling depressed for that reason? Are you stunned by brands, but then you do
not know how to handle them? Would you like to live in a world free of any
brand? Are you sure that brands are not alive? Do  not worry! Answers to these
and many other brand and branding related questions are to be found in this
book. Brandlife is a branding philosophy and branding manual at the same
time.

My review

All aspects of business really are interesting just as marketing and branding.
It's fascinating how brands are developed and what the philosophy after the
brands is.

"Brandlife" written by Andrej Drapal really has very useful information,
perhaps sometimes a little too much information.
However it's written clearly and very structured, which I liked.

I certainly would recommend "Brandlife" to professionals such as managers
and marketers. This work also is important for students.

I was doubting to give a four star or a five star rating. But as it's about
doubting, I'll give it a five star rating.

Bookreview: The Incredible Value of Employee Power - Unleashed

The Incredible Value of Employee Power
Unleashed how to gain competitive advantage
by treating your employees well!

"Excellent management book"

Written by Robertson Hunter Stewart

Summary

This is a book about the incredible source of largely untapped power which
exists within organisations and companies today, namely your employees.
It explains why this is the case and what to do about it.
The main paradigm of the book is that employees are the most important
resource for any organisation and should be treated as such; companies
need more than ever to become employee centric. Both now and in the
future, key themes such as autonomy, empowerment and employee
engagement will become the foundations upon which companies will
build competitive advantage. Building confidence and trust will become
more and more crucial to success. As I say in the book:“Empowerment
is also to do with confidence and trust. If you think about the concepts of
confidence and trust in your life outside of work, I am sure that most of
you would agree that, if there is no trust within, for example, a family unit,
there is a great likelihood that this will lead to a serious problem.”

My Review

In my spare time, I recently started to study Industrial and Organizational
psychology, so this book "The Incredible Value of Employee Power:
unleashed How to gain competitive advantage by treating your employees
well!", interested me immediately. However I had a slight problem with the
long title.

The book is written very clear and it has a good division into all paragraphs
and chapters. It also has excellent diagrams for clarification.

I hope that more and more managers will read this book because employee
power is so important for businesses and organization. It's so logical that
a happy employee will produce more things and will be better for the
organization.

Therefore I would certainly recommend this book to all the managers or
to people who are - just as I do - interested in Industrial and Organization
psychology I would like to give this book a 5 star rating on 5.

The Author

Robertson Hunter Stewart’s experience as an employee has now
stretched over a period of 36 years (56-years-old at the time of writing)
and he has spent the last 26 years in the service sector. Arriving in France
in 1992 (and speaking no French), Stewart worked his way up from cleaner
to General Manager of some of the biggest Luxury Hotels in Europe
(three of which with over a thousand rooms). He has led teams from a
few to several hundred during his career.

He also continues to teach in both French and English at Bachelors
and Masters Level for prestigious Management schools in Paris, France.

I really hope to read more excellent management books from Robertson Hunter
Stewart! I think people can learn a lot from him!
